Hello Hello! I know it's been a while, per usual. BUT life is life, and through all the crazy shifts and tides I've gone through, I have been fortunate enough to watch a great deal of movies and shows in the meantime.
While browsing through Hulu in the midst of my sinus infection, I came across this gem of a horror movie. "Mom and Dad", staring a pleasantly ridiculous Nicholas Cage, plays on a security we normally take for granted: the love and protection of our parents.
I'm going to do my best NOT to mention spoilers in this, so it shall be brief.
The basic premise of the movie is this: There is some sort of hysteria that randomly comes about one day. It gives parents the impulse to violently murder their children.
There were some decent plot surprises in this. My anxiety levels were pretty high. The gore factor was perfect, not too much but definitely cringey with small hints of silliness. This movie is definitely a dark comedy, leaving plenty of room for laughs and "WTF?" reactions.
I give it 8 out of 10 skulls....the ending left a sour taste in my mouth. The movie would have been perfect if it just found a better way to end. But it's TOTALLY worth checking out. Save it to your "stuff" if you have (or are borrowing) Hulu!
